about

These are sound paintings.
Like paintings, they are responses to sights, sounds and emotions I have encountered.

Listen with your ears the same way you would use your eyes to look at an autostereogram picture. Let your ears be lazy for a moment, drifting out of focus, letting the sounds blur and distort. Listen in your car, in a park, on the banks of a river. Listen peripherally or directly. Or perhaps late at night, or early in the morning. Each environment lending it’s own translation. Let the patterns of noise fold and cascade, let the sound evoke images or nothing.

What have I done here? Nothing perhaps. Symbiotic interference. Leave me with some emotion. Sonic pebbles tossed in a galactic pond. Analog infinities. I beat, I pulse, I wave. (He reaches down to pet the dog who isn’t there.) These moments cascade into each other with no beginnings or endings and tears well up. I watch the landscape recede into the distance with nothing to mark any perspective. There is no point of reference I can discern either in physical space or within time. Time flowing like a river incessant until it dries up from lack of precipitation. I think of a time drought. When clocks struggle to move. When there is not enough—

about

Gordon Kurowski, a.k.a. Aubstraction Princeton, New Jersey

An Audio Artist, interested in the juxtaposition of sound, sight, science and spirituality.

A journey begun with the classics, and continuing to grow, listening to all genres of music, sound, sound art, avant-garde, free improvisation, and deep listening.

The "Aubstraction" moniker came about from an inadvertent credit on a piece published by a "label".

Collaboration is welcome, email me!
